Future Accountant?

The attached pictures are of Jetta and her playing with my calculator. She found it one day and just couldn't seem to leave it alone. She would go and get it and then come in and sit down and press the buttons and just look at me with such a curious expression. It was very cute. Possibly, she is a future accountant in the making. I surely wouldn't mind if she were to follow in my foot steps, as the profession is a good one and has provided well for me. Check out the piggies....aren't they cute? I love when she has piggies, she just looks so darn cute, if I do say so myself.

Our little helper....

The attached picture is of Jetta and her helping unload the dishwasher. One day when I was unloading the dishwasher, her curiousity got the best of her and she made her way over to the silverware basket. She began pulling them out and handing them one at a time to me. Each time she'd hand me one, I'd tell her "thank you" and now when she helps, each time she hands you something, she says "thank you". She loves helping and will get very upset if you try to finish it for her. Hopefully she will continue to enjoy helping, but I'm sure that will be asking to much when she's a teenager. Oh well, I'm gonna enjoy the special moments now and remember them when she is being not so sweet. As you can see she even climbs up onto the door in order to be sure to reach whatever she's after. Thank goodness she's such a peanut, otherwise I would be replacing the dishwasher each and every time we unloaded it. The video is a little long, but it's very sweet and you can watch her as she takes one piece out at a time and waits for you to take it before she'll get another. Such a big girl.

Finally, a computer!

Sorry it has been so long since I last posted, but our computers mother board went out and we had to have it fixed. Didn't realize how much I relied on the computer to keep everyone up to date on how Jetta is doing. So, over the next few days, I'll try to post a few things to try to get you caught up on how she's doing.

A few weeks ago we discovered that Jetta is allergic to mosquitos. We were at a friends house for a graduation party and Jetta had a fight with mosquitos and lost. We had put Off on her, but the areas that we didn't, the pesky little bugs got the best of her. We ended up taking her to the doctor, as all the bites were blistering up and looked horrible. The doctor looked at her and said, "yep, she allergic to mosquitos". So, that meant several days of Zyrtek and some Afterbite cream. They also told us that we need to be sure to keep her well covered with Off anytime she's outside.

However, not all bad news at the dr. They weighed her and she now weighs 17.1 lbs, which is 2.2 lbs more than when we brought her home. So, I guess we are feeding her plenty. I did however, forget to have them measure her, but do believe that she has grown several inches. Some of her 9 month (yep my 15 month old baby is still wearing 6 to 9 month clothes) pants are getting a little short.

We go back in early July, so I'll try to remember to have them measure her and determine just how much she's grown. She is still tiny, but is full of attitude and personality.

Other than growing, she is now walking full-time, no more crawling. She,s almost ready to run, which means trouble for me. However, it is great to see her cruise around and enjoy herself. She is still feeding herself and is now starting to use a fork and spoon. I hope to post a short video at some point of her trying to use her spoon. She is also taking a sippy cup very well and really seems to enjoy Propel water. She doesn't want juice and loves water, which I'm happy with. She doesn't show much interest in drinking milk from the sippy, but am going to keep trying and hope that we kick the bottle habit soon. She doesn't have a real fond attachment to the bottle, but seems to relate the bottle with milk and water with the sippy. As quick as she seems to adjust to new things, I'm pretty certain in a week or two we'll be done with bottles, or at least all except for at night when she goes to bed. However, I'm hopeful I can break that habit too.

Speaking of going to bed. She is doing much better when it comes to sleeping through the night. About a week ago, I decided that I needed to let her cry for a few minutes before I ran to her rescue. I figured she has been home for 3 months now and knows that mom and dad are going to be there. So, the first night, I jumped out of bed and came out and waited in the hallway, in hopes she would stop crying soon. To my surprise, within 2 to 3 minutes, she was done crying and continued to sleep through the night. So, night after night, I continued to push myself and keep from running in to her room. Now, after just one week, she is only stirring a bit each night, with just a few whimpers and then back to sleep. Needless to say, this has helped us alot and we are now finally feeling rested. It was nice that it wasn't to trying for me and that she made it easy and didn't cry for long periods of time. I should have known she wouldn't, she is a big girl, I think mom was the one who was needing the late night cuddles.

Well, I best close for now, as it is fast approaching Jetta's bedtime and I need to read her a few books. She is patiently sitting here on my lap watching me type and I've probably exceeded my time limit for her patience. So, I will post again soon, but wanted to give you an update of how things are and how she's doing. I promise more updates and will include pics in those.
